Real-time communication to take over in 2010?

The world of Social Media has advanced with major steps over only a couple of years time. Just a few days ago Google launched Real-time search and it instantly became a real hit, with the ability to add Real-time search results to your own site makes this one of the biggest news this year.

What is Real-time communication?

Site´s souch as Twitter and Facebook will change our web experience as we know it today. With features such as Google´s Real-time search we are able to get updates from people on both Twitter and Facebook, in Real-time without even being on the particular site. With the abilty to add Google Real-time searches to your own website, makes this one of the biggest news this year.

According to Pete Cashmore, from Mashable, Real-time communication will reach a new high and make 2010 the year it all began.

We will see more of Location Sharing, Internet TV, Real-time web and the social media site´s will keep on growing. With Facebook to reach over 350 million users world wide and Twitter to reach close to 18 million users this year, we will see a major change in our web experience.

With MySpace and Facebook´s upcoming partnership early 2010, and Google´s integration to Twitter via Google Friend Connect, we will see a major change in our Social Networking experiences we have today.

Location Sharing and privacy

New things such as Location Sharing and Real-time communication are set to be a couple of the most upcoming web trends for 2010. But what does this really mean to our privacy and how are we able to prevent it?

With the abilty to share your location via your mobile phone´s GPS system you are able to let your friends know exactly where you are in Real-time. Features like these keep on growing every day, and there are always more features to be developed for us to use for this particular reason alone.

The downside of all these features and upcoming web trends in 2010 is that we will have made it harder for us to keep our data private. Location Sharing and Real-time communication makes keeping a secret online so much harder than today.

So how are we able to prevent letting people know of our secrets and data?

The only things we really can do for the moment are to either stop using social media site´s and stop telling secrets online. Or why not stop using the internet itself, since this might be the best solution.

In conclusion

With all these features and trends closing in very quickly into our lives on the internet, makes it so much harder to keep our life private than it is today. Still new trends like these are getting bigger each day and with the ability to connect to other site´s with your Social Media accounts makes it to one of the things that will never stop growing.

Should we be concerned that our lives might get stolen or compromised and that our data might spread all over the web?

In my own personal opinion I would say, no, we have nothing to be afraid off and we have nothing to fear with these new features. Since we are all aware that our lives might get stolen or compromised just as easy today and everything we write on the web are being stored and spread all over it, we wouldn´t notice any major differences than we have today.
